Champion Within

"There are monsters in my room.", said the boy.

"I know.", replied his grandmother.

"Can you make them go away?"

"No"  The grandmother touched the temporary tattoo she had placed on his shoulder and smiled.  "They are your monsters and you must face them.  You are a warrior.  You come from a long line of warriors so you must face your monsters and slay them as we all have." 

The boy thought for a moment as he examined his tattoo, then smiled.  "I love you Nanny." he said as she kissed him good night.

"I love you too, my little slayer, sweet dreams." she answered.

And as she left his room she heard him whisper "I am a warrior, I am a slayer, I AM the Champion!"
